Community Support - Sammamish Watershed Festival

This year Hammond Collier sponsored the 2009 Watershed Festival at Beaver Lake Park located in Sammamish. The Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District invited fourth grade classes from the Lake Washington and Issaquah School Districts to participate. Private schools were welcome too. The event was a huge success with over 1,000 students participating in a variety of hands-on activities at various stations. Activities included: the life cycle of the salmon, native plant identification, scale models showing the effects of pollution to ground and surface waters, recycling with a game show theme, water quality testing, alternatives to household hazardous waste, water distribution systems, raptors of Northwest watersheds, and water conservation.
